In the Healing Blues project, homeless storytellers and musicians in Greensboro, North Carolina collaborated to create songs for The Healing Blues and The Healing Blues, Spoken Words CD’s. The songs tell the stories and struggles of the homeless population of Greensboro. CD sales and donations raised funds for the Interactive Resource Center (a day center for people experiencing homelessness).
The project was organized by Ted Efremoff and Dave Fox in collaboration with 27 storytellers experiencing homelessness, 80 musicians and over 100 students from Greensboro College, Central Connecticut State University and Saint Joseph University. Local professional musicians donated their performances to the project. The storytellers received a share of the royalties and an honorarium as cultural producers on the CD’s.
