My teaching style evolves out of an interest and involvement with the Social Practice Art movement. When I meet with students, I am interested in imparting the ideals of collaboration and service, as well as addressing real world problems.
I am most interested not in teaching a skill or a technique but motivating students to be confident problem solvers and learners, with an adaptive creative style of navigating an ever evolving world.
I view my teaching practice as a series of collaborations with students in and out of the classroom. I try to set up a series of challenges that lead to explorations that might sever some of the bounds of our beliefs and understandings surrounding art. Some of the results of these explorations are featured here.
