A lot on Broad Street in the Frog Hollow neighborhood of Hartford was planted with wheat that was milled into flower for bread and pizza shared with the community. All the plowing, planting, harvesting, and threshing of the wheat was done using the green energy of bicycles. The project affirmed our relationship to the land and the physical and metaphoric sustaining qualities of bread. It celebrated a multicultural calendar of rites and community activities associated with planting and harvesting.
Organized by Ted Efremoff while in residency at The Workshops @ Billings Forge in collaboration with Emcee CM, Alexander Hill, James Holland, Rebecca Parker, Rodger Phillips, Hartford Food System and residents of Billings Forge.
