The film tells the true story of Joseph, an outspoken political activist for LGBT rights, who fled from his home in Sierra Leone because his life was in danger. This documentary details his harrowing encounters with the refugee smuggling enterprises of Africa and the perils of rafting across the Mediterranean – all in search of political asylum in Rome. His story is told in parallel with the story of Aeneas, a Trojan prince who was a refugee from the Trojan war and the mythological forefather of the Romans.
